Ingredients
6 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved lengthwise
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, plus additional for garnish
1 teaspoon toasted dehydrated minced onion, plus additional for garnish
1/4 teaspoon toasted caraway seeds, plus additional for garnish
1/3 cup minced smoked salmon, plus additional for garnish
Kosher salt to taste
Thinly sliced scallions for garnish
Directions
Carefully remove the yolks from each egg half and place them in a small bowl.
Add the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise to the yolks and mix until smooth and creamy.
Stir in the fresh lemon juice, toasted sesame seeds, dehydrated minced onion, and toasted caraway seeds until well combined.
Fold in the minced smoked salmon gently to keep the pieces intact.
Taste the mixture and season with kosher salt as needed.
Spoon or pipe the filling into each reserved egg white half.
Garnish each deviled egg with additional smoked salmon, sesame seeds, dried onion, and caraway seeds. Top with thinly sliced scallions and serve immediately.
Comments
The ingredient list is solid for Charlotte stores; Harris Teeter and Kroger stock caraway seeds and everything else readily, though the smoked salmon at $12–16 per package dominates the cost at roughly $1.50–2 per serving before eggs and dairy. The stated 15 minutes is realistic if eggs are pre-boiled, but assumes you already have hard-boiled eggs on hand—actual start-to-finish including boiling and cooling takes 30–35 minutes. This is a no-reheat appetizer best served fresh and cold, and while it feeds a crowd, it demands last-minute assembly and won't hold well beyond a few hours.
