A smooth, naturally sweet cold-brew concentrate made by steeping coarsely ground light roast coffee beans in cold water overnight. This gentle brewing method yields a rich, full-bodied coffee with reduced acidity. Dilute with water or milk to taste and serve over ice for a refreshing drink that's perfect any time of day.

Ingredients

1 pound light roast coffee beans, coarsely ground (French press grind)

5 cups cold water

Milk, for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large clean jar or container, combine the coarsely ground light roast coffee beans and cold water, stirring well to ensure all the grounds are fully submerged.

  2. Cover the jar loosely and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. The longer steep time will yield a more concentrated and smoother brew.

  3. After steeping, slowly pour the cold-brew mixture through a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter into another jar, leaving the grounds behind. Repeat the straining if needed for a cleaner concentrate.

  4. Dilute the concentrate with cold water to your preferred strength—typically a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio of concentrate to water. Stir well.

  5. Pour the diluted cold brew into glasses filled with ice. Add milk if desired and stir. Serve immediately and enjoy.
