Ingredients
1/3 cup white rice (any variety)
1/2 cup sugar
Pinch of salt
4 cups whole milk
Directions
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Lightly butter a 2-quart baking dish or similar oven-safe vessel.
In the prepared baking dish, combine the raw white rice, sugar, and salt. Stir well to distribute the ingredients evenly.
Pour the milk over the rice mixture and stir to combine, ensuring the rice is submerged as much as possible.
Place the baking dish, uncovered, in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, stirring occasionally (every 20–30 minutes) to prevent the rice from settling to the bottom and to help it cook evenly.
The pudding is ready when the rice is very tender and the mixture has thickened to a creamy consistency with a slight jiggle when gently shaken. The top may be lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, or refrigerate and serve chilled, as preferred.
